DISTANCE LEARNING

The English Benedictine Distance Learning Theology course is validated for BA in Theology by the University of Wales Lampeter. It involves the study of 18 modules (4 essays/assignments each), designed to be spread over three years. It is suitable as a preparation for priestly ordination, but also for general theological formation. It is suggested that two modules be studied concurrently. At the beginning of each term the modules are introduced at a one/two day meeting (normally at Ealing Abbey, London) and in the middle of term occurs a one day meeting for consolidation. Anyone wishing to do this course should contact Dom David Pearce at Ealing Abbey, London, W5 2DY.

If the course is intended for priestly ordination, other modules will also be required on such subjects as moral theology and Canon Law.

The course – or individual modules of it - may also be studied by those intending neither to complete a full BA course nor to proceed to priestly ordination, but wishing simply to enlarge their theological horizons. An outline of the courses offered and tutored by me is given below. Anyone wishing to follow only these courses or other scriptural courses (e.g. The Psalms, the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, John, the Acts of the Apostles, the Letters of Paul, the Book of Revelation, Elementary Hebrew, Biblical Greek) should contact me, henry@ampleforth.org.uk.
